The picture ‘1/7 Greed’ symbolizes the desire for excessive enrichment on the part of those in power. The scepter and orb, symbols of tsarist power in Russia, are depicted as a toilet brush and a bomb, suggesting associations with filth and the fatal danger of the sin of greed.
There are several references in the painting: a nod to the gaudy palaces of corrupt politicians in the form of a golden ruff, and a reference to one of Andrew’s artworks. In addition, the work also hides several Easter eggs, which are not easy to identify at a glance.
